Three fragments.
None complete.

Before the chronicle finds its footing three pages that never quite survived the fire

01 / Oar-Worn

Two names no page

Twin sacks of grain two peaked hats — one blue one green — rowing toward a hill Tome hadn't finished drawing yet The current pulled them out of frame before he caught their names

FRAGMENT · WATER-STAINED
02 / Half-Raised

A watchtower with no name yet

Scaffolding climbs the hill faster than anyone can carve it a plaque Someone already ran a flag up the top floor — Tome just doesn't know what it's meant to be watching for

FRAGMENT · UNFINISHED
03 / Lantern-Lit

The dock that's empty by morning

Two lanterns burn all night at the landing though no boat has ever been caught arriving By sunrise there's only the smell of pine tar — and a page that's still slightly damp

FRAGMENT · STILL WET
03 / The Chronicle of Stonedale

A story
the ash
can't erase.

Six chapters, six pages from a tome that outlived the very city it recorded. A kingdom of small builders, forgotten by everyone except one book.

Gnomes building the first cabin in the mountains Chapter I
The First Campfire

A Handful of Dreamers

Six gnomes, two tents, and a pot over the fire. They picked a valley between two snow-capped peaks, certain that walls built here would hold heat longer than any story about the easy life.

A gnome village with a windmill and sheep Chapter II
The Dale Comes Alive

Roofs, Flocks, Smoke from Chimneys

A few springs later, one house had become a street, and the street a village with a windmill on the hill. Shepherds drove sheep past the forge while the elder read on his porch, as if he already knew this book would be read again.

A gnome trading port at dusk with ships Chapter III
Gold on the Docks

A Port Where the Lanterns Never Went Out

Ships arrived with the sunset, and the Cloth, Bakery, and Tools stalls stayed open past midnight. Stonedale became a name spoken on other shores — with respect, and just a little envy.

The burned ruins of the gnome city Chapter IV
The Night the Dale Burned

Ash Where the Streets Used to Be

Tome never writes who lit the torch — it's the one page he keeps deliberately blank. He writes only what he saw: smoldering beams, silence where the bell used to ring, and gnomes who didn't leave, but stayed to clear the embers.

Gnomes rebuilding a stone castle Chapter V
Stone Upon Stone

The Walls Grew Thicker

The second Dale was built not from timber but from cut stone, under a banner marked with a white cross. This time nobody asked how long it would take — they just kept pushing the carts until the sun set behind the keep.

Three gnomes walking toward a great city at sunset Chapter VI
The Road to the New Capital

This Chapter Is Still Being Written

Three travelers descend a stone path toward the lights of a great city by the sea. Tome is only half closed — the last chapter was left blank, and whoever holds the book now has to fill it in. That's you.

Every book finds
its shelf.
His hasn't yet.

Somewhere between the ladders and the lantern light, Tome is still looking for the ending — and still writing new beginnings instead.
